Obama Rally in Honolulu

Obama speech

I got the privelage to go hear Barack Obama speak here in Honolulu yesterday. He and his family are spending a week here on vacation and visiting family. This was probably a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am very glad that I had the chance to go.

One of my close friends, Alesa, and I started the day by taking the kids to the zoo. We drove separately so that I could go straight to the rally. After the zoo, she took Hailey and David for me and I took her oldest son Jaquob.

We got to the rally around 12:15 (the gates opened at 12:30), after about a mile walk from the car. We stood in a verrrry long line and finally got into the gates around 1:30. We had gotten word that Obama was expected around 2:30. So we plopped our butts down and began the long hot wait. Around 3:00, Senator Akaka came out and spoke, followed by Representative Abercrombie and then mayor Mufi Hanneman. Finally, the moment we had been waiting for...Barack and Michelle Obama arrived!

The speech was not a long one and not a very political one. Rather, it was very motivational. Obama spoke mainly about what he believes in and the direction he feels our country needs to head in. All in all, it was very exciting and inspiring!

Click here or on the picture of Obama to see the rest of the photos I took. There are also 2 video clips if you would like to hear him speak.
